One Year Later – the Broken Ankle Story
On the latest episode of Yoga is Now, we talk about the last year of our lives, from the day that Zach broke his ankle 6/18/2022 to today, 6/18/2023. It’s a long one where we talk about medical trauma, depression, drug-induced spiritual journeys, healing, suffering, growth, and growing older.
One Year Later – the Broken Ankle Story
It’s hard to get over an injury like this. Everyone looks out for the physically injured person, but many forget about the parter, the witness, the rescuer. With a major injury, much trauma is endured by the partner. In my case, I was soon on medically prescribed drugs, strong ones, and it was soon easy to not dwell on my horrible predicament.
For Carrie it sucked. She took on the weight of our multiple businesses, while I couldn’t walk for 6 months. 6 months I didn’t walk and when I did, that sucked too.
Little by little it has gotten better, but many scars remain. 3 inches on both sides of my ankle. 1/5 inch in my heal, 1.5 inches below my knee where they took the bone graft. Thats just the physical, as the emotion and mental healing will likely take longer than 6 months or a year or more. But like I said, it has gotten better.
