Laguna Verde Guest House in Apaneca, El Salvador

Laguna Verde Guest House is located in a quiet and rural setting up the road from Apaneca, El Salvador.  It’s on he Ruta de las Flores which is one of the biggest tourist attractions in El Salvador and is packed full of rolling green hills, delicious coffee, and beautiful flowers.  Apaneca is a tiny town with lots of charm and some pretty good nearby hiking.

Laguna Verde Guest House has two buildings.  One is a a dome with two rooms with bunk beds, a common space with chairs and a fully functional kitchenette.  The second house is a wood cabin with several rooms of different styles on separate floors.  The cabin is also equipped with a kitchen and refrigerator.

The views from the flower-filled yard are spectacular when the clouds clear up and there are some great photo opportunities.  Unfortunately for us, it was kind of cloudy while we were up there so we didn’t get any amazing pictures.

The place is very comfortable and the owner is glad to help you out with whatever you need.  The only drawback to this place is that it is about 3.5km from Apaneca town, up the hill near Laguna Verde.  It is a hard hike uphill with a big backpack but there are infrequent minibuses and anyone with a pickup is glad to give you a free lift.  For someone looking for lodging in a great coffee farming “off-the-beaten-track” location, this place might be a perfect fit.
